Our proPIC team are researchers from the School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences, based in the King George VI building on the central Newcastle city campus.
ECLS focuses on theoretical and professional issues in an interdisciplinary, inter-institutional and international way and is a major provider of teacher training and continuing professional development as well as providing advice and evaluation support to education institutions. The work of the Applied Linguistics & Communication Research Group encompasses a range of research interests related to language and communication and their application to professional and everyday contexts.
Our main areas of expertise are Language Education (including second language teacher education), intercultural communication, social and professional interaction and language and technology.
