This weekend, the first half of the 3rd cohort of students started in Karlsruhe. We had two great sessions on using research and mobile technologies for our own professional development. On the second day, the students developed interesting project ideas and set up dialogic e-portfolios. We are looking forward to our next session, taking place on 5-6 July 2019.

In March 2019 nine students of the University of Kiel took part in the proPIC course. It was an intensive and very productive week. The participants learned about reflective practices and ways of fostering professional development, such as teacher labs, the use of video in the classroom and digital e-portfolios. One of the group’s favorite activities was engaging in collaborative spoken reflection. Here all participants analyzed a video recorded critical incident experienced by the teacher educator herself in another course. This material and the discussion about it allowed the students and the teacher educator to explore the source of the problem and to propose alternatives for that particular classroom puzzle. During the intensive course the prospective teachers started developing their learning e-portfolio and their research project. Some areas of interest are the use of ICT tools to foster pupils’ motivation, the development of teachers’ digital competences, and the use of collaborative platforms to facilitate international cooperation and intercultural competences. Now the ProPIC participants are very looking forward to meeting international students and exchanging views on teaching and learning with digital technologies during the study week. The proPIC intensive course was quite a journey, and this was just the beginning!
